About Eddy

Hi we are John and Brenda Taylor at present we have 4 golden retrievers all boys Fergus 12 Oliver 10and Fergus’s 2 sons Logan 4 and Eddy 2. We got our First Golden Sherrie in 1984 while John was in the Army in Germany and Cyprus. On Return to the UK in 1988 she was soon joined by Mac who was a big shock to us as he was a naughty as Sherrie was good and she was very good! With Mac we tried our hand at showing and met a puppy called Langsett Midnight Romance (Cassie that day I said to John I am going to have a puppy from her) We found Mac had chronic Hip dysplasia at 8 months we had also done everything wrong and learnt the hard way how much exercise a young golden should have but he was so brave and never let it slow him down. In 1993 Oscar arrived he was 1 year old and had been very spoilt and no longer wanted as a baby was due with a lot of hard work he turned into a wonderful affectionate dog. In 1996 we met Cassie again who was due her last litter and at last I had my puppy from her our Fergus by this time we knew a lot more and we were so careful with him He qualified for Crufts at his first Championship show and that was us hooked sadly Mac who was the bravest of dogs finally succumbed to his pain and we lost him at just 8 years old. Oliver then joined us at 6 months he had Mac’s spirit and sense of adventure so life was never going to be dull. Fergus had become a stud dog by now and was very good at it! Guide dogs used him twice and offspring did very well several generations later and still going strong. Oliver keen not to be left behind went to see Fergus’s sister Chelsea and of course we were not having one! So Dylan came to join us and we were 5 again shortly after Sherrie at a month short of her 15th birthday left us to join Mac. So back to 4 wonderful golden boy. Almost at his best we were devastated when Fergus injured his hip while out a walk in April 2000 he recovered well taking the Reserve Challenge Certificate at Bath 6 weeks later but retired from the show ring early because of the injury. We moved down to Andover in Dec 2000 with Johns job and Fergus went to a Dylan daughter and gave us Logan who is the sweetest gentlest boy I have ever met he was devastated when at 6 months his best friend Oscar died aged 12. He soon bounced back and his only fault is water once in he won’t come out. I famously had to dive in a lake after him while gundog training one day as he just wanted to chase the swans. It is a great shame as we back on to a park which backs onto a river and he can’t run free unless I fancy a dip apart from that he is so obedient having his good citizen gold award and being placed at the 2 obedience competitions we have entered he loves to show but has been lacking coat at 4 and a half it does now seems to be coming he was just devastated when his best friend Oscar went to join Sherrie and Mac aged 12. That brings us to our little star Eddy who at 2 years and 4 months is just everything we could want in dog and he just gets better we don’t expect him to be at his best until about 5 if he follows his dad and Logan. He is very much a free spirit but so faithful he is never happier than at your side and a right little chatter box so expect any pup of his to talk to you. He is a excellent stud dog always putting his girls at ease with a little chat first! But first and foremost our dogs are our pets and part of our family they enjoy obedience and gundog training swimming and being groomed and just being with you we would never be without them.
